AI has features most people never touch — projects, skills, connectors, and model selection. This series teaches you to use them, so that AI becomes an increasingly effective collaborator.

Foundation series

Each session builds a new dimension of AI capability, compounding into more effective & efficient use.

  • AI isn’t a magic typewriter, but it can be a powerful ally throughout the writing process. This session teaches strategies for collaborating effectively across the writing spectrum, from lower stakes tasks where authorial voice is less important to higher stakes ones where voice is everything.

    Homework: Write or revise something using strategies from this session.

  • Projects can turn AI into a personal operating system. Learn to layer knowledge, project instructions, and prompting to create high-leverage workflows for tasks like writing, networking, and planning (whether your week or your meals).

    Homework: Create two Projects to assist your workflows.

  • Getting AI to forget & getting AI to remember are two sides of the same coin. In this session, we discuss privacy and what you can do to ensure yours. We also introduce Instructions & Skills as ways of getting AI to remember what’s useful to you. AI becomes far more powerful when it knows your goals, adapts to your preferred work style, and produces output the way you like.

    Homework: Set up your user instructions & set up at least one skill that’s valuable to your work.

  • How AI access knowledge determines the accuracy of what it gives back. Learn to audit how AI works, to select the right model for the job, and to access additional information through connectors & Deep Research.

    Homework: Compare two models for the same task. Conduct a Deep Research task that’s valuable for your work. Set up & configure connectors.

  • Spreadsheet-based AI can quickly structure and make sense of information, both quantitative and qualitative. We’ll show examples of how you can do both. Whether you're working with surveys, financial data, or vendor agreements, you'll learn techniques to move from raw inputs to meaningful conclusions.

  • Some people start from no/low background & some start from daily professional use. This class is the right fit for people who want to master chat-based AI.

  • If you can already do all of these things fluently, you may be looking for something more advanced:

    If you have questions about fit, please feel free to contact me.

  • The easiest level up available in AI is to pay for your account, whether it’s with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Copilot. Which AI you choose matters less than whether you’re using a free account vs a paid one.

    That said, as of mid-2026, Claude offers the most powerful set of features for most professional work. It is our recommended AI if you are choosing one.

    The Foundation series will center features that are common across the AIs. The class is designed to be AI agnostic, though we’ll primarily use Claude to demonstrate.
